Full course description
Rice University offers an online mathematics course to review the mathematical tools and concepts used in first-year Economics Ph.D. courses. This course will cover topics including Real Analysis, Linear Algebra, Calculus, Optimization, and Difference and Differential Equations. In the audit version, students will have access to lecture videos and course content, but there will be no office hours with an instructor. There are 20 lectures in total. Students will complete concept check questions, homework, and quizzes for each module to reinforce what they’ve learned and test their skills. Certificates will be issued upon successful completion of all coursework. The course is self-paced, so you can work on your own schedule and timeline. You will have access to course materials through May 1, 2027, and can work in a way that best fits your schedule. Because the course is online, you can take it from anywhere in the world. All you need is a computer with an Internet connection.
